There are also 2 accessible street parking bays at the front of our building at 99 Shiel Street - please note street signage for times.

Wheelchair access

The building is wheelchair accessible from both the level 1 and level 3 entrances. There is a lift that reaches every floor, and accessible, all-gender toilets.

The following nearby tram stops are accessible:

  • Stop 16 (Haines St/Abbotsford St) on Route 57 West Maribyrnong - Flinders Street Station
  • Stop 19 (Royal Childrens Hospital/Flemington Rd) on Route 59 Airport West - Flinders Street Station

Archive tours

Tours of the Victorian Archives Centre last 45 minutes and there are no bathroom facilities once the tour begins. The tour is wheelchair accessible, but please note we do not have courtesy wheelchairs or walkers available at the Victorian Archives Centre so anyone requiring a wheelchair or walker will need to bring their own.

Online access

Our website was designed to meet accessibility standards. However, some of our catalogue pages and digitised records may be more difficult for some screen readers to interpret. If you have any trouble accessing information from our website or have a suggestion to improve access, please contact us.

Vision Australia can also provide information to users on text (screen) readers and assistive technologies.
